Reflecting back and looking ahead to Bedlinog RFC!

After an impressive bonus point win at home against Trebanos RFC our thoughts quickly changed to preparing for another tough encounter away at Beddau RFC.

Beddau RFC over the years have regularly been a top half of league team and we as a team were in no doubt how hard we would have to work in order to be competitive. Although the boys attitude was good in training when building up to the game there were elements of disruption as we were forced into changes as half a dozen boys were away in a wedding on the Saturday.

The game itself was dominated for large parts by ourselves in the first half similarly compared with the Trebanos game where again we had more composure and importantly played in the right areas, resulting in Beddau being stressed!Furthermore our set Piece (Forwards) was outstanding where it gave our exciting backs opportunities to dictate form. However we had to make two early changes due to injury that forced our hand even more. After playing in the right area and effective game management on the whole we went into half time 7-13 in the lead, however knowing we left more out there and that on another day with better decisions we could of been even further ahead on the score board!

The second half started off as the opposite with Beddau who were playing down the slope executing more effectively and stressing our defence, that coupled with us struggling to manage the game effectively. Two yellow cards followed and decisions seemed to be not going our way. However taking nothing away from Beddau who managed the game well and scored some nice tries. The final score was 29-13 and although Beddau deserved the win I felt the score line didn't truly reflect how well we did as a group!

After the whistle the boys realised that although playing well for parts they still have plenty to work on moving forward into the next game which is back at home against Bedlinog RFC this Saturday.

On other news it was great to bump in to my old fitness coach at Neef 'ritters' where we reminisced over a pint. Rugby is unique in that we are enemies on the pitch but friends off the pitch, a truly beautiful sport!

Back to the 1st XV looking ahead to Saturday we are back at home verses a strong Bedlinog RFC team. We know we're in for another battle however the boys have trained hard and are looking forward to the challenge!
