Cardiff Met v Skewen 10/9/16

The 10th of September saw Skewen travel to Cardiff to play the students. What a contrast in conditions. A glorious sunny day led to some glorious attacking football. Unfortunately in the first half it was all played by the Met.

The Mets first try came 10 minutes into the game with Skewen on the back foot. A shortened line out saw the quick ball moved into the centre where the second row took the ball on the inside line to get behind the defence to score a converted try.7-0

Mets went further ahead on the 20th minute with a penalty in front of the post 10-0

The Mets where piling on the pressure and their second try came again from a period of sustained pressure in the Skewen 22. A driving maul close to the Skewen line saw the Mets hooker pop up on the blindside unnoticed and was able to stroll over for a try 15=0.

In the final minutes of the first half Skewen managed to gain some territorial advantage and their first points anAnthony Busselli penalty 3-15.

The second half started much as the first with the Met playing the football and Skewen defending.

The Mets third try came after 5 minutes, good possession and an offload saw the centre step inside the defence to race to score a try which was converted.22-3

The Mets 4th and bonus point try came after 10 minutesscored in the corner and which went unconverted. 27-3.

Having been under the cosh for almost three quarters of the game Skewen rallied and began to gain possession and territory. Skewens only try coming from winger Mathew Billet converted by Anthony Busselli 27-10

Final Score Cardiff Mets 27 Skewen 10

A very disappointing day for all involved. Skewen failed to match the intensity and pace of the Cardiff Mets and for extended periods were forced onto the back foot to defend against a well organised fit fast team.
