Skewen v Kenfig Hill Match Report

On Saturday the 7th March, after 4 weeks without a game following cancelled fixtures against Cwmllynfell and Seven Sisters, Skewen welcomed Kenfig Hill to Tenant Park.

Recent fixtures between both teams have led to close and hard fought outings and, with Kenfig Hill only a few places behind in the league, another close game was expected.

However another dominant performance by the Skewen 8 at scrum and Lineout meant that Skewen were able to control the pace and style of the game with the try bonus point being reached by half time.

A break by Tom Kingdom saw him step inside his opposite number on the half way line and run in for 40 yard solo effort

Another fine break by scrum half and Captain James Ball took play into the Kenfig 22. He fed his supporting player and was on hand to take the inside pass to score.

Not to be outdone the forwards also got on the scoreboard, Aled Mogford crossing from a driving lineout and Reece Jenkins crossing from a driving maul.

Anthony Busselli added 2 first half conversions and a penalty.

Kenfig Hill responded with 2 converted penalties making the half time score Skewen 24 Kenfig 6.

The second half proved to be more evenly contested with Kenfig upping their game. Both teams scored a single try Skewens being a penalty try when substitute flanker DanWilliams was impeded by a Kenfig player when in the act ofscoring

Anthony Busselli added the conversion and a further penalty making the final score Skewen 34 Kenfig Hill 11.

Overall a well-balanced performance with Mathew Williams receiving the sponsors (and backs choice) Man of the match and Ollie Thompson receiving the forwards choice man of the match.
