After an impressive opening season win against Newcastle Emlyn on the first Saturday in September, we made a trip up into the unknown Rhydyfelin RFC.
Rhydyfelin RFC certainly don't lack credentials after beating Treorchy RFC over a two game play off to win promotion to the championship for the 2017-18 season.
The game itself was dominated for large parts by ourselves in the first half however we lacked a little composure in the opposition 22, throwing quite a few opportunities away in the process and furthermore Lady Luck didn't seem to be on our side!
The second half didn't start to well and Rhydyfelin to their credit built on their confidence, gaining more possession and more importantly having the composure to finish opportunities. The final score was 20-12 win for Rhydyfelin RFC which on balance they deserved, whilst our boys as honest as always acknowledged they had plenty to work on moving forward into the next game!
On other news good luck to Skewen RFC Youth who take on Gilfach Goch away in a training game!
Back to the 1st XV looking ahead to Saturday we are back at home against another new team in the championship, however as we know from previous years a very good outfit Trebanos RFC! Boys have trained hard and are looking forward to another titanic battle with our near neighbours!
