Reflecting back and looking ahead to Beddau RFC!

After a disappointing first away game of the season against Rhydyfelin RFC our thoughts quickly changed to preparing for another home fixture against our near rivals and respected opposition Trebanos RFC.

Trebanos RFC were promoted to the Championship for the first time this year after winning a two leg play off against Kidwelly RFC in the summer 2017. Trebanos in winning promotion scored allot of tries over 2016-17 season and we as a club were under no illusions in how hard the battle was going to be!We tweaked 1/2 things leading into the Trebanos game, however overall it was more about boys attitude and application which was outstanding in training building up to the game!

The game itself was dominated for large parts by ourselves in the first half however unlike the Rhydyfelin game we had a little more composure in the opposition 22 scoring some nice team tries. Furthermore our set Piece (Forwards) were outstanding where it gave our exciting backs opportunities to play from.

The second half starting with Trebanos playing the better rugby and making better decisions, however as the heavens opened we stayed in it with some heroic defence. Although Trebanos kept fighting hard to remain in the game our boys regained control and we eventually scored a landmark 4th and bonus point try!

The final score was a 34-20 win for us and although it was satisfying our boys realised we have plenty still to work on moving forward into the next game which is away to Beddau RFC this Saturday.

On other news it was great that our Youth boys also gained a victory away at Gilfach Goch in a training game!

Back to the 1st XV looking ahead to Saturday we are on our travels again against a strong Beddau RFC team who have consistently finish in top half of Championship over the years. We know we're in for another battle however the boys have trained hard and are looking forward to the game.
