Just before half time Skewen scored an excellent try when, following a solid scrum on the halfway line, outside half Jaimie Kirkhouse attacked and got behind the Bridgend defensive line. Skewen centre Tom Kingdom taking the ball at pace stood up the defence by stepping in and out before making the scoring pass for winger Sam Collins to cross for a try converted by Anthony Busselli.

Skewen had a fair share of possession and territory in the first quarter of the second half but a series of penalties saw them hand momentum back to the athletic.

After some 20 minutes Skewen were able to take the lead when a strong blindside break by centre Tom Kingdom saw him take the ball well into the Athletic 22 before giving the scoring pass to winger Cai Morgan to cross for a try . Skewen 12 Bridgend Athletic 8.

Skewen were growing in confidence and where on top of both territory and possession but yet again small errors saw the momentum handed back to the Athletic. Following a penalty kick to touch on the 34^th minute the subsequent take and drive saw the Athletic cross for a converted try to take the lead. Skewen 12 Bridgend Athletic. Having stolen the momentum the Athletic were able to close out the game for a very close win.

Over all a much better performance with a solid set piece and some excellent performances especially by centre tom kingdom who made both the Skewen tries. Much better structure and commitment from everyone involved. Yet again small margins and mistakes took the victory away from us. If we continue to improve in this way the victories will soon be forthcoming
