21/09/19: Pencoed vs Skewen

Skewen opened the score after 10 mins when a Penalty Lineout  in the Pencoed  22 was driven and quickly recycles to winger Tom Kingdom who came off his wing to cut a great angle to cross for a try an unconverted try  5-0

Following the kick off Pencoed were awarded a penalty just inside the Skewen 10 yard line which was converted  5-3

After 23 mins Good Skewen pressure led to an attacking scrum on the Pencoed 5 metre line. The following drive saw flanker Richard daffy Davies cross for a try converted by Anthony Busselli  12-3

Skewen maintained their pressure and on the 26 minute were awarded a penalty on the Pencoed 10 metre line which was converted by Anthony Busselli  15-3

On the 28th minute with Skewen pressing a turnover saws Pencoed kick ahead into Skewen half although well covered the subsequent loose pass was intercepted and run in by Pencoed for try 15-8

On the 36th minute a good attack by Skewen with good interplay by forwards and backs was taken on with hard running by Lloyd Philips taking ball well into Pencoed 22 the ball being dislodged into touch giving Skewen an attacking lineout. Cleanly taken and driven with James Price crossing for try converted by Anthony Busselli 22-8

 The try of the match was scored on 39th minute . Pencoed kicked ahead in to the Skewen half. Driven ahead by Richard Davies and taken blind by Scrum Half Jamie Kirkhouse feeding centre Mike Evans on the half way line who then proceed to take on the whole of the defensive line turning them inside and out before turning on the gas and racing 35 yards for the try converted by Anthony Busselli 27-8

The first period of the second half saw a lot of Pencoed pressure in the Skewen 22Leading to a well-deserved converted try 27-15.

Skewen were able to gain control of possession and territory and were awarded a penalty which gave them an attacking Lineout well into the Pencoed 22. A clean take and drive saw young hooker Callum Grimes cross for a try converted by Anthony Busselli 34 -15

Pencoed continued to play attacking rugby and took a quick penalty on the halfway with the Pencoed breaking tackles on the Skewen 22 to race in to score a try. 34-20

 A much better performance  by a well-balanced Skewen side, with some excellent  performances being put in by the youth players, none of whom looked out of place in 1st team rugby.
